I have just won a suit in small claims court (Abington PA) against The Moving Connection for damage to and loss of precious antiques during a delivery in June 2018. The moving company's personnel were completely incompetent and careless, and my attempts to obtain fair and prompt compensation from its so-called claims adjusters met with predictable corporate apathy and stonewalling Take my advice: avoid this company like the plague!

The Moving Connection was highly recommended to me, and upon meeting with owner Ross Preis I was very favorably impressed. I was also impressed by the apparent professionalism and competence of the four-man moving team. That impression has not held up. On 22 Feb 2017, the men packed the contents of my apartment in Frederick, MD and our home in Mt Airy, MD, for delivery to High Point, NC. One item - a family heirloom, hand-made by my father - was to be delivered to our son in Arlington, Massachusetts. Months passed. When I followed up last month, I was told that it had been storehoused while they waited for an "economical" way of getting it delivered. After some negotiations, I agreed to pay - and DID pay - an additional $611 to have it shipped immediately. A few days later, I called and was told it would be delivered on Friday, June 29. I checked with my son on July 1 - no notification, and no delivery. I'm on telephone hold at the moment, having been told that the company's records show it WAS delivered. There's no amount of money that can compensate for the sentimental value of this item - a hand-made pine cabinet containing a record turntable, vintage AM/FM radio receive, the electronics required to operate these items, AND a dozen or so boxes containing some of our favorite classical LP records. Adding insult to injury, after I had left the house to travel to NC, the movers packed - and charged me for moving - literally thousands of pounds of books and floor-to-ceiling bookcases that were supposed to have left behind; damaged two dining room chairs (loosened the arms on one, left a cigarette burn on the upholstery of the other); dented a brass torchiere lamp in such a way that it cannot be repaired; and destroyed the value of a hand-carved mahogany dragon by chipping off and losing a claw and a tooth. I'm not willing to go through the hassle of claiming damages for these four items. But, adding insult to injury, the movers failed to fully assemble our double-sized Comfort Select bed. AND, although I had personally packed and labeled the contents AND INTENDED LOCATION of literally dozens of boxes, almost none of those boxes wound up where they were supposed to be. Today - July 2 - I am *still* on telephone hold while the good folks at The Moving Connection try to ascertain the whereabouts of that family heirloom. If I could give a rating of negative stars, I would do so.
