Surprisingly poor experience here, after a promising start. Here’s where it all went down hill: When I asked questions about the insurance coverage. Coverage that the owner, Pam, requires customers to purchase, no matter what. She was unable to answer questions or provide the reference materials I needed to make an informed decision and ensure I (and others) would be covered in the event of an accident where I was at fault. Instead of helping, she pressured me into signing the rental contract without being able to verify if I was covered for all circumstances. She seemed flustered that I took my time and asked questions. When I shared that I wasn’t comfortable with that pressure and with signing the contract on mere assurances that things would be “OK,” she badgered me more. Eventually, I didn’t rent from her, to which she said that was probably best. Poor ending to a promising start.
My advice to others: Come informed on contractual terms, and ensure ahead of time you’re covered in the event of an accident you cause. Damages could be in the $10,000s if so. Bottom line: No one should be pressured to make decisions without clear and full information.
